Using media in your guides
Once you've uploaded media to your library, you can use it in your guide steps.
Adding an image to a step
- Open the guide editor and select a step
- Change the step type to Image using the Type dropdown in the properties panel
- Click Choose from Media Library
- Browse or search for the image you want
- Click it to select it
The image is now attached to the step and will display to contacts when they view the guide.
Adding a video to a step
Adding a video follows the same steps as images, with one addition — you can set a poster image:
- Set the step type to Video
- Click Choose from Media Library
- Select a video
Videos play inline with a full video player. They also support a poster image — a thumbnail that shows before the video starts playing. You can set the poster by selecting a separate image from the media library.
Using the media picker
When you click Choose from Media Library, the picker shows all your media assets filtered by the relevant type (images for Image steps, videos for Video steps).
You can:
- Browse the grid of available assets
- Search by filename
- Upload new media directly from the picker without leaving the editor
Changing or removing media
To change the media attached to a step, click the media picker again and select a different asset. To remove it, you can change the step type back to Simple Content or select a different type.
How media sharing works
When you add media to a step, it links to the original file — it doesn't create a copy. This means:
- If you update the alt text on a media asset, the change applies everywhere it's used
- If you delete a media asset from the library, it's removed from all steps that use it
- Duplicating a guide preserves the media links (the duplicate points to the same assets)
